Code No.P0974: Shift solenoid No.1 system (Open circuit)

SHIFT SOLENOID SYSTEM CIRCUIT

When the shift solenoid No.1 is OFF, if a status continues for 0.5 seconds with which the A/T-ECU terminal monitor signal is ON (1 drive cycle), code No.P0974 is set.

PROBABLE CAUSES

Malfunction of shift solenoid No.1
Damaged harness wires and connectors
Malfunction of the A/T-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III actuator test

Item 1: Shift solenoid No.1

OK: Operating sound can be heard.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 4.

	Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Measure the resistance at A/T control solenoid valve assembly connector.

Disconnect the connector, and measure the resistance between terminal SVSA line and body earth at the solenoid side.

OK: 11 - 15 Ω (A/T fluid temperature 20°C)

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 3.

	Replace the shift solenoid No.1 and solenoid harness.

STEP 3. Check for open circuit and short circuit in SVSA line between A/T control solenoid valve assembly connector and A/T-ECU connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 4.

	Repair the connector(s) or the wiring harness.

STEP 4. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.

Check again if the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is diagnosis code No.P0974 set?

	Replace the A/T-ECU.

	Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
