Code No.P0883: Power Supply System (Short Circuit)

OPERATION

The A/T-ECU is energised from the battery.

DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITION

While the engine is running, if a status continues for 90 seconds with which the power supply voltage to A/T-ECU is standard value or more, code No.P0883 is set.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Battery check

Refer to GROUP 54A - Battery - Battery Test .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Replace the battery.

STEP 2. Alternator check

Refer to GROUP 16 - Charging System - Alternator Output Line Voltage Drop Test .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Replace the alternator.

STEP 3. Measure the voltage at the A/T-ECU connector.

Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage between terminal BAT and body earth at the harness side.
OK: Battery voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check for open circuit, short circuit and harness damage in power supply line between A/T-ECU connector and battery.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Measure the voltage at the A/T-ECU connector.

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage between terminal IGSW and body earth at the harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.
Go to Step 6.

STEP 6. Check for open circuit, short circuit and harness damage in power supply line between A/T-ECU connector and J/B connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or the wiring harness.

STEP 7. Measure the resistance at A/T-ECU connector.

Disconnect the connector, and measure the resistance between terminal GRP1 line and body earth at the harness side.
OK: 2 Ω or less

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Repair the connector(s) or the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.

  • Ignition switch: "LOCK"(OFF) → "ON"
  • Check again if the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is diagnosis code No.P0883 set?

Replace the A/T-ECU.
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
