DISASSEMBLY

1. FLANGE YOKE ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

1.Using special tool lock nut chisel (MB992700) or screwdriver and a hammer, loosen the staked part of the nut.
2.Remove the nut from the flange yoke assembly.
note Adjust the manual valve lever shaft to the "P" position.

caution
  • Before removing the flange yoke assembly, mark the position on the output shaft relative to the mark on the outer circumference of the flange yoke assembly.
  • Be careful not to damage the extension housing oil seal.
  • If the washer and sleeve are removed together with the flange yoke assembly, return them to their original positions.
Tap the flange yoke with a plastic hammer to remove it from the output shaft.

2. WASHER AND SLEEVE REMOVAL
caution
  • Make sure there are 2 washers and 1 sleeve.
  • In some cases, there may be washers on the flange yoke assembly.

Remove the sleeve and 2 washers from the output shaft.

3. EXTENSION HOUSING REMOVAL

1.Remove the 10 bolts to remove the extension housing.
SIZE: Bolt
M10 x 1.5 x 44 mm

2.Remove the O-ring from the extension housing.

REASSEMBLY SERVICE POINTS

1. EXTENSION HOUSING INSTALLATION

1.
caution
  • Be careful not to damage the extension housing oil seal.
  • Be careful not to damage the extension housing.
Coat a new O-ring with ATF, and install it to the extension housing.
SIZE: O-ring
Inner diameter: 69.00 mm
Thickness: 2.62 mm

2.Install the extension housing with the 10 bolts to the transmission case.
SIZE: Bolt
M10 x 1.5 x 44 mm
3.Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 34 ± 7 N·m

2. EXTENSION HOUSING OIL SEAL INSTALLATION

caution
  • Be careful not to damage the extension housing oil seal.
  • Be careful not to damage the extension housing.
Use the following special tools to install the new extension housing oil seal to the extension housing by the following procedure.

  • Rear suspension bushing remover and installer base (MB990847)
  • Rear suspension bushing ring (MB990887)
Dimension:
3.3 - 3.7 mm (From the end of the extension housing)
(1) Use special tools MB990847 and MB990887 to drive in the oil seal until the special tool MB990887 contacts with the extension housing.
The depth of the drive-in should be 3 mm.
(2) Only use special tool MB990847 to drive in the oil seal by 0.3 - 0.7 mm further.
Drive in the oil seal gradually while measuring the depth of drive-in with a vernier caliper.

3. FLANGE YOKE OIL SEAL INSTALLATION
caution
  • Be careful not to damage the flange yoke oil seal.
  • Be careful not to damage the flange yoke.

Using special tool crankshaft front oil seal installer (MB991395) and a hammer, install the new flange yoke oil seal to the flange yoke.
Dimension:
0 - 0.3 mm (From the end of the flange yoke)

4. WASHER AND SLEEVE INSTALLATION
caution
  • Make sure there are 2 washers and 1 sleeve.
  • After attaching the sleeve, make sure to attach the 2 washers.

Install the sleeve and 2 washers to the output shaft.

5. FLANGE YOKE ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

caution
  • When reassembling, align the marks (made prior to removal of the flange yoke) on the flange yoke assembly and the output shaft assembly.
  • Be careful not to damage the extension housing oil seal.
  • Be careful not to damage the flange yoke.
Install the flange yoke assembly with the new nut to the output shaft.
note Adjust the manual valve lever shaft to the "P" position.
2.Tighten the nut to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 135 ± 12 N·m
3.Using a chisel and hammer, securely stake the nut.

4.Confirm the position that has the least amount of run-out at the location shown in the figure.
5.Mark this position on the outer circumference of the flange.
