GENERAL INFORMATION

The front axle consists of front hubs, knuckles, wheel bearings, and it has the following features:

The front hub assembly which uses a unit bearing (double tapered roller bearing) is mounted on the knuckle.
Rotor for detecting the wheel speed is press-fitted into the front hub.

The front axle consists of the front hub assembly, driveshaft, inner shaft, front differential, and it has the following features:

A free-wheel mechanism that allows changeover between 2WD and 4WD while the vehicle is travelling.
The wheel bearing uses a unit bearing (double tapered roller bearing) with strong transverse load bearing ability.
The driveshaft incorporates outboard joint - inboard joint type constant velocity joints with high transmission efficiency for low vibration and noise.
Due to the use of the inner shaft, the right and left driveshafts are approximately the same in length. This reduces noise, vibration and torque steer.
Rotor for detecting the wheel speed is press-fitted to the outboard joint outer wheel.
