REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

caution
  • For vehicles with ABS, be careful not to strike the pole piece at the tip of the rear wheel speed sensor with tools during servicing work.
  • *: Indicates parts which should be temporarily tightened, and then fully tightened with the vehicle on the earth in an unladen condition.
Pre-removal Operation
  • Brake Fluid Draining

Post-installation Operation
  • Brake Fluid Filling and Air Bleeding (Refer to GROUP 35A, On-vehicle Service .)

  • Parking Brake Lever Stroke Adjustment (Refer to GROUP 36, On-vehicle Service .)
  • Check the beam direction of the headlamp (Low beam) (Refer to GROUP 54A - Headlamp Aiming ). <Vehicles with headlamp automatic levelling system>

REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS

<<A>> PROPELLER SHAFT DISCONNECTION

caution Suspend the propeller shaft from the body with wire, etc. to prevent it from falling.

Make the mating marks on the flange yoke of the propeller shaft and the companion flange of the differential case. Disconnect the propeller shaft from the companion flange.

<<B>> SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNTING BOLT DISCONNECTION/STABILIZER BAR SIDE LINK KIT REMOVAL

Support the axle housing with a jack before removing the stabilizer bar side link kit and the shock absorber lower mounting bolt.

<<C>> AXLE ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

warning Secure the axle assembly to the jack or equivalent. The axle assembly is heavy and unstable and may fall causing damage to the assembly, surrounding equipment, or injuring the installer.
Take out the axle assembly from the rear of the vehicle.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS

>>A<< STABILIZER BAR SIDE LINK KIT INSTALLATION

1.To install the stabilizer bar, assemble the joint cups and rubber bushings by the order and the specified direction as shown in the figure.
2.Install the lower nut on the stabilizer bar mounting bolt to the specified dimensions.
Standard value (A): 31.3 - 33.3 mm
3.Tighten the upper nut to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 42 ± 8 N·m

>>B<< PROPELLER SHAFT CONNECTION

Align the mating marks on the flange yoke and the companion flange to install the propeller shaft.

>>C<< PLUG/REAR BRAKE DISC INSTALLATION

caution Align the plug hole on the rear brake disc with one of the four holes on the axle shaft. If you install the plug to the concave portion on the axle shaft by mistake, the plug will be adrift and the brake shoe cannot be adjusted.

1.Ensure that the plug hole on the rear brake disc is aligned with one of the four holes on the axle shaft.
2.Install the rear brake disc.
3.Install the plug.
