REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS

<<A>> PRE-REMOVAL OPERATION

1.Use the M.U.T.-III to release the parking brake cables fully according to the procedure below:
(1) Move the selector lever to the P position.
(2) Connect the M.U.T.-III and turn ON the ignition switch (Refer to GROUP 00 - Precautions Before Service, M.U.T.-III

).
(3) Check the following actuator test (Refer to

Item No. 2: Full release control

<<B>> REAR BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

1.Remove the rear brake caliper assembly with brake hose.

2.Hold the rear brake caliper assembly with a wire.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS

>>A<< SHIM / RETAINER INSTALLATION

1.Select an appropriate shim so that the clearance (B) between the parking lever and it reaches 0.1 - 0.35 mm.

2.Crimp the retainer firmly to the pin with pliers.

>>B<< ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

Install the adjuster assemblies so that the shoe adjusting bolt is mounted to the rear of the vehicle on the right and left rear wheels at the rear side of the vehicle.

note

For the adjuster assemblies, different parts are used for right and left rear wheels. Install the right-hand screw of the shoe adjusting bolt to the left rear wheel side, and the left-hand screw to the right rear wheel side.

>>C<< SHOE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT

1.Remove the adjustment hole plug of the rear brake disc, and then use a flat-tipped screwdriver to turn the adjuster in the direction of the arrow (the direction which expands the shoe) so that the disc will not rotate.
2.Return the adjuster eight notches in the direction opposite to the direction of the arrow.
3.Turn the rear wheels to check that the rear brakes are not dragging.

>>D<< POST-INSTALLATION OPERATION

1.Pull up the electric parking brake switch to apply the parking brake.
Check that the brake warning lamp in the combination meter comes on.

2.Push down the electric parking brake switch to release the parking brake.
Check that the brake warning lamp in the combination meter goes out.
