HOW TO RELEASE THE ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE MANUALLY

  • Releasing the electric parking brake manually is limited to an emergency case.
  • If you have released the electric parking brake, use the M.U.T.-III to initialise learnt value for the actuator (Refer to ).
  • When the electric parking brake is released manually, diagnosis code No. C2250 may be set. If so, refer to ).
If you cannot release the electric parking brake electrically due to a flat battery, you can release it manually.
1.Apply chocks to wheels.
2.Move the selector lever to the "P" position.
3.Stop the engine if it is running.
4.Make sure that the indicator lamp on the electric parking brake switch is off.

5.Remove the protector (Refer to ).
6.Use a 4-mm hexagonal bit socket to loosen the three cap mounting bolts to remove the cap.

7.Pull out the plug.
8.Engage the 4-mm hexagonal bit socket with the plug mount.
9.Push and turn the 4-mm hexagonal bit socket anticlockwise to loosen the parking brake cables toward the rear brake to release the parking brake.
note If the parking brake cables are not loosened any more, the parking brake has been released completely.

10.Replace the plug, and then reinstall the plug.
11.Replace the O-ring on the cap mount, and then reinstall the cap.
12.Tighten the cap mounting bolts to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 3.0 ± 0.6 N·m
13.Install the protector (Refer to ).
