When you pull up the electric parking brake switch with the brake pedal depressed, the parking brake will be applied (locked).

This trouble symptom assumes that M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnosis result is OK and no diagnosis code is et.

Parking brake cable(s) slide improperly
Parking brake lining improperly adjusted (excessive clearance), improperly installed, worn or poorly lapped in
Parking brake drum worn, scratched or broken
Water or oil attached on parking brake drum
Malfunction of electric parking brake actuator

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Lap in the parking brake lining.

	This diagnosis is complete.

	Go to Step 2.

Check the shoe and lining assembly (LH, RH) for proper installation and thickness, and adjust the clearance if necessary.

	Go to Step 3.

	Adjust or replace the shoe and lining assembly.

(1)Check the rear brake discs (LH and RH) for wear, scratch or breakage.

(2)Check whether water or oil is adhered on the rear brake discs (LH and RH).

	Go to Step 4.

	Repair or replace the rear brake disc.

Check the parking brake rear cables (LH and RH) for proper installation and smooth running.

	Go to Step 5.

	Repair or replace the parking brake rear cable.

	Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

	Replace the electric parking brake actuator (Refer to ).
