caution When you replace the electric parking brake actuator, use the M.U.T.-III to initialise learnt value for it (Refer to ).

OPERATION


When you pull up the electric parking brake switch with the brake pedal depressed, the parking brake will be applied (locked).

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


This trouble symptom assumes that M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnosis result is OK and no diagnosis code is et.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Lap in the parking brake lining, and then check the trouble symptom again.

Q. Is the check result normal?

This diagnosis is complete.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Parking brake lining check


Check the shoe and lining assembly (LH, RH) for proper installation and thickness, and adjust the clearance if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Adjust or replace the shoe and lining assembly.

STEP 3. Parking brake drum check


(1)Check the rear brake discs (LH and RH) for wear, scratch or breakage.
(2)Check whether water or oil is adhered on the rear brake discs (LH and RH).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair or replace the rear brake disc.

STEP 4. Parking brake cable check


Check the parking brake rear cables (LH and RH) for proper installation and smooth running.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair or replace the parking brake rear cable.

STEP 5. Retest the system


Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the electric parking brake actuator (Refer to ).
