Inspection Procedure 1: The Sunroof does not Work at All.

caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the sunroof does not work at all, these power supply circuit(s), these earth circuit(s), sunroof switch or the sunroof motor assembly (sunroof-ECU) may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check the sunroof switch.

Check that the sunroof switch works normally (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Replace the sunroof switch.

STEP 2. Check of short to earth, and open circuit in OPEN, CLOSE and UP line between sunroof switch connector and sunroof motor assembly connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 3. Check of open circuit in earth line between sunroof switch connector and body earth.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Voltage measurement at sunroof motor assembly connector (IG2 terminal).

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(3)Check the voltage between the sunroof motor assembly connector (IG2 terminal) and body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in IG2 line between sunroof motor assembly connector and ignition switch (IG2).

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Voltage measurement at sunroof motor assembly connector (B terminal).

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Check the voltage between the sunroof motor assembly connector (B terminal) and body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.

Go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Check of short to earth, and open circuit in B line between sunroof motor assembly connector and fusible link.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 8. Resistance measurement at sunroof motor assembly connector (EARTH terminal).

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Measure the resistance between the sunroof motor assembly connector (EARTH terminal) and body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.

Go to Step 9.

STEP 9. Check of short to power supply, and open circuit in EARTH line between sunroof motor assembly connector and body earth.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 10. Retest the system.

The sunroof assembly should now work normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).

Replace the sunroof motor assembly (Refer to ).
