Inspection Procedure 2: Any of the sunroof switch positions is defective.



caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If any of the sunroof switch positions is defective, the communication lines between the sunroof switch and the sunroof motor assembly (sunroof-ECU) may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the sunroof switch.


Check that the sunroof switch works normally (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Replace the sunroof switch.

STEP 2. Retest the system.


Q. Which switch position is defective?

"TILT UP" : Go to Step 3.

"OPEN" : Go to Step 4.

"CLOSE/DOWN" : Go to Step 5.

STEP 3. Check of short and open circuit in UP line between sunroof switch connector and sunroof motor assembly connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Check of short and open circuit in OPEN line between sunroof switch connector and sunroof motor assembly connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check of short and open circuit in CLOSE line between sunroof switch connector and sunroof motor assembly connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Retest the system.


The sunroof assembly should now work normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).

Replace the sunroof motor assembly (Refer to ).
