Inspection Procedure 1: Electric-folding door mirrors do not work at all.


caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

OPERATION


The ETACS-ECU operates this function in accordance with the input signals below.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the system does not work, the input circuit from the Ignition switch (ACC), the remote controlled mirror switch (fold switch), or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES



DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code.
Check if an ETACS-related diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?
Diagnose the ETACS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS, Diagnosis Code Chart ).
Go to Step 2.

Check the ETACS-related data list (Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS, Service Data Reference Table )

  • Ignition switch: ACC
  • Remote controlled door mirror switch (fold switch): ON

Q. Is the check result normal?
YES <Normal conditions are displayed for all items> : Go to Step 3.
NO <Normal condition is not displayed for item No. 22> : Troubleshoot the ETACS-ECU. Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS, Inspection Procedure 12 "The remote controlled mirror switch (fold switch) signal is not received" .
NO <Normal condition is not displayed for item No. 29> : Troubleshoot the ETACS-ECU. Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS, Inspection Procedure 1 "The ignition switch (ACC) signal is not received" .

Check the ETACS-related data list (Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS, Service Data Reference Table )

  • Turn on the remote controlled door mirror switch (fold switch) when the door mirrors are folded.

STEP 4. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in D/LOCK line between fusible link and ETACS-ECU connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check the trouble symptom.
Check that the electric-folding door mirrors work normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the ETACS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS, ETACS-ECU ).
