Inspection Procedure 1: Front seat belt reminder function does not work normally (passenger’s side).

caution Before replacing the hazard indicator assembly, be sure to check that the power supply circuit, earth circuit, and communication circuit are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the second seat belt reminder function does not work normally, the second seat belt switch input circuit, or the hazard indicator assembly may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Voltage measurement at the combination meter connector

(1)Disconnect the combination meter connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch from LOCK (OFF) position to ON position.
(3)Check the voltage between the combination meter connector terminal BWLP and body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Voltage measurement at the hazard indicator assembly connector

(1)Disconnect the hazard indicator assembly connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch from LOCK (OFF) position to ON position.
(3)Check the voltage between the hazard indicator assembly connector terminal IG+ and body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness of short, open to power supply circuit in between the hazard indicator assembly connector and ETACS-ECU connector.

STEP 3. Check of short, open circuit in BWLP line between the combination meter connector and the hazard indicator assembly connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the hazard indicator assembly (Refer to ).

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Check the front seat belt switch.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Replace the front seat belt switch.

STEP 5. Resistance measurement at the front seat belt switch (passenger’s side) connector

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Measure the resistance between the seat belt switch (passenger’s side) connector (earth terminal) and the body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Go to Step 6.

STEP 6. Check of short, open circuit in body earth line between front seat belt switch (passenger’s side) connector and the body earth.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 7. Check of short, open to power supply circuit in SBAS line between combination meter connector and seat belt switch (passenger’s side) connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 8. Retest the system.

The second seat belt reminder function should work normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).

Replace the combination meter (Refer to GROUP 54A - Combination Meter).
