Inspection Procedure 5: Seat belt reminder function does not work normally.

Before replacing the combination meter, be sure to check that the power supply circuit, earth circuit, and communication circuit are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the seat belt reminder function does not work normally, the seat belt switch input circuit, or the combination meter may be defective.
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Malfunction of the seat belt switch (driver’s side)
- Malfunction of the seat belt switch (passenger’s side) <Except for RUSSIA, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND or GCC>
- Malfunction of the seat belt reminder sensor (passenger’s side) <Except for RUSSIA, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND or GCC>
- Malfunction of the combination meter
- Damaged harness wires and connectors
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Check the seat belt switch.
- Refer to GROUP 52A - Front Seat Belt.
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Replace the front seat belt switch.
STEP 2. Resistance measurement at the seat belt switch (driver’s side) connector or seat belt switch (passenger’s side) connector

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.

|
(2)Measure the resistance between the seat belt switch (driver’s side) connector (earth terminal) and the body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

|
(3)Measure the resistance between the seat belt switch (passenger’s side) connector (earth terminal) and the body earth. <Except for RUSSIA, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND or GCC>
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.
STEP 3. Check of short, open circuit in body earth line between seat belt switch (driver’s side) connector or seat belt switch (passenger’s side) connector and the body earth.

Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
STEP 4. Check of short, open to power supply circuit in S/B- line between combination meter connector and seat belt switch (driver’s side) connector or power supply circuit in SBAS line between combination meter connector and seat belt switch (passenger’s side) connector.
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
STEP 5. Retest the system.
The seat belt reminder function should work normally.

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
Replace the combination meter.
