Code No. C2227 BSW warning indicator

OPERATION

The clearance warning control unit sets diagnosis code No. C2227 when it detects open circuit or short to earth in the blind spot warning lamp circuit.

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT

Any of the conditions below is satisfied:

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III actuator test.

Check the actuator test (Refer to ).

OK: Blind spot warning lamp is illuminate.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Take a note which side fails, and then go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Voltage measurement at door mirror assembly connectors (INDL and INDR terminals).

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(3)Measure the voltage at the failure side.
..... When the left side fails, check the voltage between the door mirror assembly (LH) connector (INDL terminal) and body earth.
When the actuator test (Item No.2) is executed
OK: System voltage
When the actuator test (Item No.2) is aborted
OK: 1 V or less
..... When the right side fails, check the voltage between the door mirror assembly (RH) connector (INDR terminal) and body earth.
When the actuator test (Item No.2) is executed
OK: System voltage
When the actuator test (Item No.2) is aborted
OK: 1 V or less

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in INDL or INDR line between the door mirror assembly (LH or RH) connector and clearance warning control unit connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the clearance warning control unit (Refer to ).

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Check of open circuit in earth line between the door mirror assembly (LH or RH) connector and body earth.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check the blind spot warning lamp.

Refer to GROUP 51 - Door Mirror .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Replace the door mirror assembly (Refer to GROUP 51 - Door Mirror ).

STEP 6. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.

Check again if the diagnosis code is set in the clearance warning control unit.
(1)Erase the diagnosis code.
(2)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(3)Check if diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the clearance warning control unit (Refer to ).

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
