Inspection Procedure 1: USB devices cannot be used.

COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If a USB device cannot be used, the USB adapter (for charging), USB device, USB cable connected to the USB device, or harness wires and connectors between the ACC relay and USB adapter (for charging) may be defective. To prevent from replacing the normal USB adapter (for charging), first ensure that the harness wires and connectors, USB device, and USB cable connected to the USB device are normal.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of USB device
  • Malfunction of USB cable connected to USB device
  • Malfunction of USB adapter (for charging)

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check if there is any damage to the USB ports of the USB adapter (for charging).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Replace the USB adapter (for charging) (Refer to ).

STEP 2. Voltage measurement at the USB adapter (for charging) connector (ACC terminal)

(1)Turn the ignition switch to the "ACC" position.
(2)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(3)Check the voltage between the USB adapter (for charging) connector (ACC terminal) and body earth.
OK: Battery positive voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in ACC line between ACC relay and USB adapter (for charging) connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Resistance measurement at the USB adapter (for charging) connector (GND terminal)

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Measure the resistance between USB adapter (for charging) connector (GND terminal) and body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check of open circuit in GND line between USB adapter (for charging) connector and body earth

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Retest the system

Prepare other USB device and USB cable, and check that the USB device can be used.

Q. Is the check result normal?

USB adapter (for charging) is normal. The USB device or USB cable which cannot be used may be defective.
Replace the USB adapter (for charging) (Refer to ).
