Inspection Procedure 1: Power is not turned ON when the power switch is turned ON.

caution Before replacing the radio and CD player, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the power for radio and CD player cannot be turned ON, the radio and CD player, or power supply circuit for radio and CD player may have a problem.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Voltage measurement at radio and CD player connector (ACC terminal).

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the "ACC" position.
(3)Check the voltage between the radio and CD player connector (ACC terminal) and body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in ACC line between ignition switch (ACC) and radio and CD player connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Refer to Inspection Procedure "Malfunction of the ignition switch power supply system" .

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 3. Voltage measurement at radio and CD player connector (+B terminal).

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Check the voltage between the radio and CD player connector (+B terminal) and body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check of short to earth, and open circuit in +B line between fusible link and radio and CD player connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check of short to open circuit in GND line between radio and CD player connector and body earth.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Retest the system.

Check if the radio and CD player power is turned ON.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Replace the radio and CD player.
