Inspection Procedure 1: No sound is heard. <Vehicles with audio amplifier>

caution Before replacing the radio and CD player, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the audio sound is not output, the radio and CD player may have a problem. In addition, if any of the speakers or tweeters is short-circuited, the protection circuit inside the radio and CD player disables all the speakers or tweeters to sound. Therefore, if all the speakers do not output sound, the speaker or tweeter circuit may be shorted or the speaker, tweeter or audio amplifier may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Checking with audio speaker test

Perform the audio speaker test, and check which speaker or tweeter does not output the sound.

Q. Is the check result normal?

YES : The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
NO (No speakers and tweeters sound.) : Go to Step 2.
NO (No sound is heard from one of the speakers or tweeters.) : Go to Step 7.

STEP 2. Check the speaker or tweeter.

(1)Remove the speaker or tweeter.

(2)Check that the speaker or tweeter outputs the noise when the voltage of 5 V is applied to the speaker or tweeter connector terminal.

Q. Is the check result normal?

YES <Except ERA-GLONASS SYSTEM> : Go to Step 5.

YES <ERA-GLONASS SYSTEM> : Go to Step 3.

Replace the speaker or tweeter.

STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between the e-Call relay box connector terminal and the audio amplifier connector terminal.

Check of short circuit in FR+, FR- line e-Call relay box connector and audio amplifier connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness. Then go to Step 5.

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness between the front door speaker (RH) connector terminal and the e-Call relay box connector terminal.

Check of short circuit in FR+, FR- line front door speaker (RH) connector and e-Call relay box connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the e-Call relay box (Refer to ). Then go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness. Then go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check the wire harness between the speaker or tweeter connector terminal and the audio amplifier connector terminal.

  • Check of short circuit in FR+, FR- line front door speaker (RH) connector and audio amplifier connector. <Front door speaker (RH) except ERA-GLONASS SYSTEM>
  • Check of short circuit in FL+, FL- line front door speaker (LH) connector and audio amplifier connector. <Front door speaker (LH)>
  • Check of short circuit in RR+, RR- line rear door speaker (RH) connector and audio amplifier connector. <Rear door speaker (RH)>
  • Check of short circuit in RL+, RL- line rear door speaker (LH) connector and audio amplifier connector. <Rear door speaker (LH)>
  • Check of short circuit in FR+, FR- line tweeter (RH) connector and audio amplifier connector. <Tweeter (RH)>
  • Check of short circuit in FL+, FL- line tweeter (LH) connector and audio amplifier connector. <Tweeter (LH)>

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Check the wiring harness between audio amplifier connector terminal and radio and CD player connector terminal.

  • Check of short circuit in FL+, FL- line between audio amplifier connector and radio and CD player connector.
  • Check of short circuit in FR+, FR- line between audio amplifier connector and radio and CD player connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 12.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 7. Check the speaker or tweeter.

Follow the speaker test to check which speaker or tweeter does not sound.
(1)Remove the speaker or tweeter.

(2)Check that the speaker or tweeter outputs the noise when the voltage of 5 V is applied to the speaker or tweeter connector terminal.

Q. Do the speaker output the noise?

YES <Except ERA-GLONASS SYSTEM> : Go to Step 10.

YES <ERA-GLONASS SYSTEM> : Go to Step 8.

Replace the speaker or tweeter.

STEP 8. Check the wiring harness between the e-Call relay box connector terminal and the audio amplifier connector terminal.

Check of short circuit in FR+, FR- line e-Call relay box connector and audio amplifier connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 9.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness. Then go to Step 10.

STEP 9.

Then go to Step 10.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness. Then go to Step 10.

STEP 10. Check the wire harness between the speaker or tweeter connector terminal and audio amplifier connector terminal.
