Code No.B1853: Collision Signal Communication



caution
  • When you check the SRS-ECU, disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal and wait for 60 seconds or more before starting work. Insulate the disconnected (-) terminal by wrapping the tape (Refer to the item No. 5 of GROUP 52B - Service Precautions ).
  • When replacing the ECU, always check that the communication circuit is normal.

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION


If the collision signal error from SRS-ECU is received for 5 seconds or more, the e-Call control unit sets diagnosis code No.B1853.

  • When diagnosis code No. B1853 is set, the e-Call switch flashes in green.
  • When diagnosis code No. B1853 and U0151 are set, the e-Call switch illuminates in red.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check of short to earth or open circuit in CSIG line between SRS-ECU connector and e-Call control unit connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 2. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.


Check again if the diagnosis code is set in the e-Call control unit.
(1)Erase the diagnosis code.
(2)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(3)Check if diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the SRS-ECU. Then go to Step 3.

Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).

STEP 3. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.


Check again if the diagnosis code is set in the e-Call control unit.
(1)Erase the diagnosis code.
(2)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(3)Check if diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the e-Call control unit (Refer to ).

The diagnosis is complete.
