Code No.B1858: e-Call SW Connection

caution When replacing the ECU, always check that the communication circuit is normal.

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION

When the system detects an open circuit in the right or left LED system for 10 seconds or more, the e-Call control unit sets diagnosis code No. B1858.
note When diagnosis code No. B1858 is set, the e-Call switch illuminates in red.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III special function.

Check the indicator (Refer to ).
Test
OK: The right and left LEDs illuminate alternately every one second (during the test).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).

NO <Both LEDs> : Go to Step 2

NO <The left LED or the right LED> : Go to Step 3

STEP 2. Resistance measurement at the e-Call switch connector (SW1- terminal)

(1)Disconnect the e-Call switch connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Check the resistance between the e-Call switch connector terminal SW1- and body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 3. Check indicator at between the e-Call switch connector (ID1+, ID4+ SW- terminals)

(1)Disconnect the e-Call switch connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Apply a voltage of approximately 5 V between the e-Call switch connector terminal ID1+ and SW-, and check that the e-Call switch illuminates.
OK: The left LED in the e-Call switch illuminate in red.
(3)Apply a voltage of approximately 5 V between the e-Call switch connector terminal ID4+ and SW-, and check that the e-Call switch illuminates.
OK: The right LED in the e-Call switch illuminate in green.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4

Replace the e-Call switch (Refer to ).

STEP 4. Resistance measurement at between the e-Call control unit and the e-Call switch connector (IND1, IND4, ID1+ or ID4+ terminals)

(1)Disconnect the e-Call control unit and e-Call switch connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Check the resistance between the e-Call control unit connector terminal IND1 and e-Call switch connector terminal ID1+.
(3)Check the resistance between the e-Call control unit connector terminal IND4 and e-Call switch connector terminal ID4+.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.

Check again if the diagnosis code is set in the e-Call control unit.
(1)Erase the diagnosis code.
(2)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(3)Check if diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the e-Call control unit (Refer to ).

Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
