Code No.B1864: e-Call Relay Box Connection

caution When replacing the ECU, always check that the communication circuit is normal.

DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION

When the e-Call control unit detects that e-Call speaker relay 1 or 2 power supply circuit is open or short to earth for at least 5 seconds, it sets diagnosis code No. B1864.
note When diagnosis code No. B1864 is set, the e-Call switch flashes in green.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III special function.

Check the speaker (Refer to ).
Test
OK: A beep sound is heard (during the test).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

NO : Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Resistance measurement at the e-Call relay box connector (GND terminal)

(1)Disconnect the e-Call relay box connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Check the resistance between the e-Call relay box connector terminal GND and body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 3. Voltage measurement at the e-Call relay box connector (RLE1 or RLE2 terminals)

(1)Disconnect the e-Call relay box connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(3)
caution Execute item No. 4 in the M.U.T.-III special function "Test", and measure the voltage within 5 seconds.
Check the voltage between the e-Call relay box connector terminal RLE1 and body earth.
OK: Approximately 5 V
(4)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(5)
caution Execute item No. 4 in the M.U.T.-III special function "Test", and measure the voltage within 5 seconds.
Check the voltage between the e-Call relay box connector terminal RLE2 and body earth.
OK: Approximately 5 V

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the e-Call relay box (Refer to ).

Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Resistance measurement at between the e-Call relay box and the e-Call control unit connectors (RLE1, RLE2, IND2 or IND3- terminals)

(1)Disconnect the e-Call control unit and e-Call relay box connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Check the resistance between the e-Call relay box connector terminal RLE1 and e-Call control unit connector terminal IND2.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
(3)Check the resistance between the e-Call relay box connector terminal RLE2 and e-Call control unit connector terminal IND3.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
(4)Check the resistance between the e-Call relay box connector terminal RLE1 and body earth.
OK: No continuity
(5)Check the resistance between the e-Call relay box connector terminal RLE2 and body earth.
OK: No continuity

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.

Check again if the diagnosis code is set in the e-Call control unit.
(1)Erase the diagnosis code.
(2)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(3)Check if diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the e-Call control unit (Refer to ).

Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
