Inspection Procedure 4: The radio broadcasting cannot be received. <Analogue radio>

caution Whenever the multivision display is replaced, ensure that the power supply circuit and the earthing circuit are normal. (Check that the voltage is 10 V or more.)

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

In case of radio broadcasting cannot be received, antenna rod, antenna base <Vehicles with roof antenna>, glass antenna (radio amplifier) <Vehicles with glass antenna>, antenna feeder or multivision display may have a problem.
note The radio wave may not be received if the vehicle is placed in the area which is exposed to a special electric field. Thus, check that the radio broadcasting can be received using the radio of another vehicle before carrying out diagnosis.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check the state of the antenna rod and antenna base <Vehicles with roof antenna> or glass antenna (radio amplifier) <Vehicles with glass antenna>.

Q. Is the antenna assembled?

Go to Step 2.

Assemble the antenna rod and antenna base <Vehicles with roof antenna> or glass antenna (radio amplifier) <Vehicles with glass antenna>.

STEP 2. Check to see if inspections are taking place is an area exposed to special electric fields.

Q. Is the reception area exposed to special electric fields?

Go to Step 3.

Go to Step 4.

STEP 3. Move the vehicle and check the radio.

Move the vehicle to a good reception area that is not exposed to special electric fields.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Diagnosis complete.

Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check if there is any damage to the antenna rod and antenna base <Vehicles with roof antenna> or glass antenna (radio amplifier) <Vehicles with glass antenna> and antenna feeder.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Replace the antenna rod and antenna base <Vehicles with roof antenna> or the quarter window glass <Vehicles with glass antenna> and antenna feeder.

STEP 5. Check the connection of the antenna feeder’s plug and multivision display.

Q. Is the antenna feeder’s plug thoroughly connected to the multivision display?

Go to Step 6.

Thoroughly connect the antenna feeder’s plug and the multivision display.

STEP 6. Check of short or open circuit in ANT line between multivision display connector and antenna base connector <Vehicles with roof antenna> or glass antenna (radio amplifier) connector <Vehicles with glass antenna>.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 7. Substitute a known good multivision display, and check the trouble symptom.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the multivision display.

Either repair or replace the antenna rod and antenna base <Vehicles with roof antenna> or glass antenna (radio amplifier) <Vehicles with glass antenna>.
