INSPECTION PROCEDURE 9: Rear fan switch or rear cooler control panel power supply system

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the rear fan switch or the rear cooler control panel is not energised, the power supply or earth system for them may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Malfunction of the rear fan switch
  • Malfunction of the centre room lamp (integrated rear cooler control panel)
  • Damaged wiring harness or connector

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check the rear fan switch.

Refer to .

Q. Is the rear fan switch in good condition?

Go to Step 2.
Replace the rear fan switch (Refer to GROUP 52A - Instrument Centre Panel ).

STEP 2. Voltage measurement at rear cooler control panel connector.

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3)Voltage between terminal RSWG and body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check open circuit in rear cooler control panel RSWG line between ignition switch (IG2) and rear cooler control panel connector RSWG terminal.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair or replace the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Voltage measurement at rear cooler control panel connector.

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3)Voltage between terminal IG2 and body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check open circuit in rear cooler control panel IG2 line between joint connector terminal No.1 and rear cooler control panel connector IG2 terminal.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair or replace the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Resistance measurement at the rear cooler control panel connector.

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Continuity between terminal E and body earth
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Check open circuit in rear cooler control panel E line between rear cooler control panel connector terminal E and body earth.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair or replace the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 8. Recheck the trouble symptom.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the centre room lamp (integrated rear cooler control panel) (Refer to GROUP 54A - Interior Lamp ).
