FUNCTION

An engine-ECU checks whether vehicle chassis number is stored or not.

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT

Check Condition

Ignition switch is "ON" position.
EEPROM is normal.

Judgement Criterion

Chassis number has not been written.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION

None

PROBABLE CAUSE

Chassis number has not been written.

Failed engine-ECU.

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check whether a chassis number is written.

Q. Is a chassis number written?

	Go to Step 2.

	Write a correct chassis number. Then go to Step 3.

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is diagnosis code set?

	Replace the engine-ECU.

	Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is diagnosis code set?

	Replace the engine-ECU.

	Check end.
