Code No. P0502: Vehicle Speed Signal Low Input <Euro4>

FUNCTION

The engine-ECU receives vehicle speed signal from ABS-ECU via the CAN communication.

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT

Check Conditions

Engine is running
Engine coolant temperature is 80°C or higher
The last fuel injection rate exceeds the specified value.
Engine speed is 2,900 r/min or more.

Judgement Criterion

Vehicle speed is 5 km/h or lower for 2 seconds.
The vehicle speed information received from the CAN is abnormal, or the CAN signal cannot be received.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION

The EGR control is stopped (fully closed).

PROBABLE CAUSES

Failed combination meter
Failed wheel speed sensor of ABS.
Failed ABS-ECU
Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Confirm the diagnosis code is set in the ABS-ECU or combination meter.

Q. Is diagnosis code set?

	Perform troubleshooting of the ABS system (Refer to GROUP 35B - Troubleshooting - Diagnosis Code Chart ) or troubleshooting of the combination meter (Refer to GROUP 54A - Combination Meter - Troubleshooting - Diagnosis Code Chart ).

	Go to Step 2.

Refer to Data list reference table .

Item 4: Vehicle speed sensor

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).

	Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is diagnosis code set?

	Replace the engine-ECU.

	Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
