OPERATION


When voltage is applied to the transfer actuator from the transfer-ECU, the motor turns to the normal direction and the drive mode is shifted in the order of 2H → 4H → 4L. When voltage is applied to the transfer actuator, the motor turns to the reverse direction and the drive mode is shifted in the order of 4L → 4H → 2H.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in TM1 line between transfer-ECU and transfer actuator connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 2. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in TM2 line between transfer-ECU and transfer actuator connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 3. Resistance measurement at the transfer actuator connector (transfer motor terminal).


(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Measure the resistance between the transfer actuator connector (transfer motor terminal) and transfer actuator connector (transfer motor terminal).
(3)OK: 100 Ω or less

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Replace the transfer actuator

STEP 4. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.


Check again if the diagnosis code is set in the transfer-ECU.
(1)Erase the diagnosis code.
(2)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
(3)Turn the drive mode-selector between "2H" and "4H" position, and check that the transfer motor work.
(4)Check that the diagnosis code is set again.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the transfer-ECU (Refer to ).
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
