Code No. C1464: R/D lock SW

OPERATION

The transfer-ECU detects the operation (ON/OFF signal) of the rear differential lock switch.

DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS

When the ON signal from the rear differential lock switch is detected for 60 seconds or more continuously, or when the ON and OFF signals are detected at the same time, code No. C1464 is set.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III data list

Use the transfer-ECU service data to check the signals related to the operation of rear differential lock switch.

Q. Are the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the rear differential lock switch.

Refer to GROUP 27 - Rear Differential Lock .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Replace the rear differential lock switch (Refer to GROUP 27 - Rear Differential Lock ).

STEP 3. Resistance measurement at the rear differential lock switch connector (earth terminal).

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Measure the resistance between the rear differential lock switch connector (earth terminal) and body earth.
(3)OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check of open circuit in earth line between the rear differential lock switch connector and body earth.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in DON line between transfer-ECU and rear differential lock switch connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in DOFF line between transfer-ECU and rear differential lock switch connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 7. Retest the system

Check that the rear differential lock switch functions work normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the transfer-ECU (Refer to ).
