DISASSEMBLY



1. OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY REMOVAL



1.Remove the 20 bolts.
SIZE: Bolt
M6 x 1.0 x 14.5 mm

caution
  • Be careful not to damage the fitting surface of the transmission case and the oil pan sub-assembly.
  • Be careful not to deform the oil pan sub-assembly.
Using a plastic hammer, tap the oil pan sub-assembly to remove it.
3.Remove the oil pan gasket.

2. OIL CLEANER MAGNET REMOVAL



Remove the 4 oil cleaner magnets from the oil pan sub-assembly.
note Examine the chips and particles in the oil pan sub-assembly and on the oil cleaner magnet to determine what type of wear has occurred in the transmission.
Steel (magnetic) = bearing, gear and plate wear.
Brass (non-magnetic) = bushing wear.

3. OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY REMOVAL



1.Remove the 4 bolts to remove the oil strainer assembly from the valve body assembly.
SIZE: Bolt
M6 x 1.0 x 12 mm
2.Remove the O-ring from the oil strainer assembly.

4. HARNESS REMOVAL



1.Disconnect the 7 solenoid assembly connectors from the solenoid assembly.
2.Disconnect the harness from the valve body wire harness clamp.

3.Remove the 2 bolts and 2 temperature sensor clamps and then pull out the temperature sensor from the valve body assembly.
SIZE: Bolt
A: M6 x 1.0 x 12 mm
B: M6 x 1.0 x 36 mm

4.Remove the bolt from the transmission case.
SIZE: Bolt
M6 x 1.0 x 16 mm
5.Remove the harness from the transmission case.
6.Remove the O-ring from the harness.

5. MANUAL DETENT SPRING REMOVAL



Remove the flange bolt to remove the manual detente spring and the manual detente spring cover from the valve body assembly.
SIZE: Flange bolt

6. VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY REMOVAL



1.Remove the 19 bolts from the transmission case as shown in the illustration.
SIZE: Bolt
A: M6 x 1.0 x 25 mm
B: M6 x 1.0 x 36 mm

caution Be careful not to drop the valve body assembly.
Disconnect the manual valve link and remove the valve body assembly.

7. CHECK VALVE SUB-ASSEMBLY REMOVAL



Remove the check valve sub-assembly and the spring from the transmission case as shown in the illustration.

8. GASKET REMOVAL



Remove the 3 gaskets and the 3 gaskets from the transmission case as shown in the illustration.

9. ACCUMULATOR PISTON (DIRECT CLUTCH, B3) REMOVAL

caution Take care as the accumulator piston (Direct clutch, B3) may eject.
Apply compressed air into the oil passage as shown in the illustration and remove the 2 accumulator pistons and the 2 accumulator springs from the transmission case.

10. ACCUMULATOR PISTON (REVERSE CLUTCH) REMOVAL

caution Take care as the accumulator piston (Reverse clutch) may eject.
Apply compressed air into the oil passage as shown in the illustration and remove the accumulator piston and the 2 accumulator springs from the transmission case.

12. PARKING LOCK PAWL BRACKET REMOVAL



Remove the 3 bolts to remove the parking lock pawl bracket.

13. PARKING LOCK ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY REMOVAL



Disconnect the parking lock rod sub-assembly from the manual valve lever sub-assembly.

14. PARKING LOCK PAWL REMOVAL



1.
caution Be careful not to apply too much force to the torsion spring.
Pull out the parking lock pawl shaft and the torsion spring.
2.Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring from the parking lock pawl shaft.
3.Remove the parking lock pawl.

15. MANUAL VALVE LEVER SHAFT REMOVAL



1.
caution Be careful not to damage the manual valve lever sub-assembly.
Using a hammer and a screwdriver, cut off the spacer to remove it.

2.Using a hammer and a pin punch, drive out the spring pin.

3.Pull the manual valve lever shaft out through the transmission case, and remove the manual valve lever sub-assembly.

16. OIL SEAL REMOVAL


caution Be careful not to damage the transmission case.

Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 oil seals.

REASSEMBLY



1. OIL SEAL INSTALLATION


caution Be careful not to damage the transmission case.

Using the special tool Drag link bushing remove and installer B (MB990842) and a hammer, install the 2 new oil seals.

2. MANUAL VALVE LEVER SHAFT INSTALLATION



1.Install the new spacer to the manual valve lever sub-assembly.
2.Install the manual valve lever shaft to the transmission assembly through the manual valve lever sub-assembly.

3.Using a hammer, drive in the new spring pin.

4.Align the manual valve lever shaft indentation with the spacer hole, and stake them together with the punch.
5.Make sure that the manual valve lever shaft rotates smoothly.

3. PARKING LOCK PAWL INSTALLATION



1.Install the parking lock pawl.
2.Install the snap ring to the parking lock pawl shaft.
3.
caution Be careful not to apply too much force to the torsion spring.
Install the parking lock pawl shaft and the torsion spring.

4. PARKING LOCK ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION



Connect the parking lock rod sub-assembly to the manual valve lever sub-assembly.

5. PARKING LOCK PAWL BRACKET INSTALLATION



1.Install the parking lock pawl bracket with the 3 bolts.
2.Tighten the parking lock pawl bracket mounting bolts to the specified torque 7.4 ± 1.4 N·m.

M6 x 1.0 x 14 mm

3.Shift the manual valve lever sub-assembly to the P position, and confirm the RR planetary gear assembly is correctly locked up by the parking lock pawl.

6. ACCUMULATOR VALVE (C1) INSTALLATION



Install the accumulator valve and the spring to the transmission case as shown in the illustration.

7. ACCUMULATOR PISTON (REVERSE CLUTCH) INSTALLATION

9. GASKET INSTALLATION


caution Be careful not to damage the gasket.

Coat the 3 new gaskets and the 3 new gaskets with ATF, and install them to the transmission case as shown in the illustration.

10. CHECK VALVE SUB-ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION



Install the check valve sub-assembly and the spring to the transmission case as shown in the illustration.

11. VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION



1.Install the parking lock rod sub-assembly to the manual valve lever sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
2.
caution
  • When installing, be sure to put the harness in the concave portion of the separator plate in the valve body assembly as shown in the illustration.
  • Do not pinch the harness between the separator plate and the valve body assembly.
Install the valve body assembly.
3.Temporarily install the valve body assembly with the 19 bolts.
SIZE: Bolt
A: M6 x 1.0 x 25 mm
B: M6 x 1.0 x 36 mm
note Aligning the bolt holes, temporarily tighten the 19 bolts by hand.

4.Tighten the valve body assembly mounting bolts to the specified torque 11 ± 1 N·m.
note Be sure to tighten the inner bolts first.

12. MANUAL DETENT SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION



1.Install the manual detent spring sub-assembly and the manual detent spring cover with the flange bolt to the valve body assembly.
2.Tighten the manual detent spring sub-assembly and the manual detent spring cover mounting flange bolt to the specified torque 10 ± 2 N·m.

13. HARNESS INSTALLATION



1.Install a new O-ring to the harness.

2.Install the harness to the transmission case with the bolt.
3.Tighten the harness mounting bolt to the specified torque 5.4 ± 1.5 N·m.

4.Install the temperature sensor and the temperature sensor clamp.
5.Tighten the temperature sensor clamp mounting bolt to the specified torque.

  • A: 10 ± 2 N·m
    SIZE: Bolt
    M6 x 1.0 x 12 mm
  • B: 11 ± 1 N·m
    SIZE: Bolt
    M6 x 1.0 x 36 mm

6.Connect the harness to the valve body wire harness clamp.
7.Connect the 7 solenoid assembly connectors to the solenoid assembly.

14. OIL STARINER ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION



1.Coat a new O-ring with ATF and install it to the oil strainer assembly.

15. OIL CLEANER MAGNET INSTALLATION



Install the 4 oil cleaner magnets to the oil pan assembly.
note Clean the oil cleaner magnet before install it.

16. CLEAN CONTACT SURFACE


caution Make sure that no foreign matter is on the contact surfaces to ensure a secure fit between the oil pan assembly and transmission case.
Clean the contact surfaces of the oil pan assembly and transmission case.

17. OIL PAN ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION



1.
caution
  • Be careful not to damage the fitting surfaces of the transmission case and the oil pan assembly.
  • Be careful not to deform the oil pan assembly.
Install a new oil pan gasket and the oil pan assembly to the transmission case.
2.
caution Be reminded that bolts might be damaged if tightened too much since the oil pan gasket is cork-made and there is little tightening sense.
Install the 20 bolts to the transmission case.
3.Tighten the oil pan assembly mounting bolts to the specified torque 7.0 ± 0.9 N·m.
