DISASSEMBLY

1. TUBE REMOVAL
caution
  • Be careful not to damage the case or adaptor.
  • Be careful not to bend the tube.
  • Never reuse the removed tube.

Remove the tube from the transmission case.

2. TRANSMISSION CASE RR ADAPTOR REMOVAL

1.Remove the 9 bolts.
SIZE: Bolt
A: M10 x 1.5 x 50 mm (Seal bolt)
B: M10 x 1.5 x 40 mm (Seal bolt)
C: M8 x 1.25 x 45 mm (Flange bolt)

caution Be careful not to damage the fitting surface of the transmission case RR adaptor and the transmission case.
Using a plastic hammer, tap the transmission case RR adaptor to remove it.

3. OIL SEAL REMOVAL
caution Be careful not to damage the transmission case RR adaptor.

Remove the oil seal from the transmission case RR adaptor.

REASSEMBLY

1. OIL SEAL INSTALLATION

caution
  • Be careful not to damage the oil seal.
  • Be careful not to damage the transmission case RR adaptor.
Using special tool Differential oil seal installer (MB991168) and a hammer, install the new oil seal to the transmission case RR adaptor.
Standard value:
0 - 0.5 mm (From the end of the transmission case RR adaptor)
2.Coat the oil seal lip with grease.

2. TRANSMISSION CASE RR ADAPTOR INSTALLATION
1.Remove any sealant and be careful not to get oil on the contact surfaces of the transmission case and the transmission case RR adaptor.
2.Clean the contact surfaces of the transmission case and the transmission case RR adaptor and the 7 bolt holes indicated in the illustration.
note Completely remove sealant and oil with white gasoline or equivalent.
caution
  • Completely degrease the FIPG-applied surface so that water and oil including the old sealant cannot adhere to the surface coated with the sealant. Never touch the degreased surface by hand.
  • Make sure the starting point and the ending point are about the middle between the bolts.

3.Apply FIPG to the transmission case RR adaptor as shown in the illustration.
Specified sealant: Three bond 1281B or equivalent
note Spread FIPG over the contact surface.

4.Install the transmission case RR adaptor to the transmission case.
5.Temporarily tighten the 9 bolts by hand as shown in the illustration.
SIZE: Bolt
A: M10 x 1.5 x 50 mm (Seal bolt)
B: M10 x 1.5 x 40 mm (Seal bolt)
C: M8 x 1.25 x 45 mm (Flange bolt)
note
  • Do not apply FIPG to the transmission case.
  • The letter A and B shown in the illustration indicate the kind of bolts.
6.Tighten the transmission case RR adaptor mounting bolts to the specified torque 34 ± 7 N·m(M10) and 23 ± 3 N·m(M8).

3. TUBE INSTALLATION
caution
  • Be careful not to damage the case or adaptor.
  • Be careful not to bend or break the tube.
  • Be sure to use a new tube.

Install the tube from the transmission case.
