DOOR FIT ADJUSTMENT

caution
  • Attach protection tapes to the fender and door edges where the hinge is installed.
  • Do not rotate special tool door hinge adjusting wrench MB991163 with a torque of over 98 N·m.
  • Remove the front fender rear splash shield. (Refer to .)
When the clearance between the front door and the body is uneven:
(1) Apply protective tapes to the fender and front door edge around the hinge mounting area.
(2) Remove the front pillar pad <Except for single cab> (Refer to ).
(3) Use the special tool door hinge adjusting wrench (MB990834 or MB991163) to loosen the body-side door hinge mounting bolts.
(4) Move the front door to adjust until the clearance around the front door is even.
2.When the clearance between the rear door and the body is uneven <Double cab>:
(1) Remove the centre pillar trim lower (Refer to GROUP 52A, Interior Trim ).
(2) Apply protective tapes to the body and rear door edge around the hinge mounting area.
(3) Loosen the body-side door hinge mounting nuts and bolts.
(4) Move the rear door to adjust until the clearance around the rear door is even.

3.When the door is not flush with the vehicle body surface:
(1) Loosen the door-side hinge mounting bolts and nuts.
(2) Move the door to adjust until the door is flush with the vehicle body.
note If the levelling of the door is difficult, replace the door-side hinge mounting bolts, studs and nuts with a bolt (MU001031) and carry out the levelling. The tightening torque for the bolt (MU001031) is 25 ± 7 N·m.



4.When the door is stiff to lock and unlock:
caution
  • To avoid inadvertent airbag deployment, always turn ignition switch to the “OFF” position and wait 60 seconds or more before adjust the striker.
(1) Adjustment by using the striker (toward the inside of the vehicle and vertical direction)
Install an temporary bolts instead of the striker mounting bolt, and use special tool remover bar (MB990939) and a hammer to tap the bolts to the desired direction.
(2) Adjustment by using the striker (toward the outside of the vehicle)
Use special tools, sliding hammer (MB990211) and body puller (MB990243) to pull the striker toward the outside of the vehicle.
On Club cab model, adjust the rear door latch strikers (upper and lower).
(3) Adjustment by using shims (forward and rearward)
Increase or decrease the number of shims so that the striker engages with the door latch properly.
On Club cab model, adjust the rear door upper latch assembly.
