Inspection Procedure 12: Vehicle power does not turn "ON" (Not possible with both of power supply mode "ACC" and "ON").

caution Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

When the vehicle power does not turn "ON" (not possible with both of power supply mode "ACC" and "ON"), the battery, CAN bus line, KOS&OSS-ECU, KOS&OSS-ECU power supply, or earth circuit may have a problem.
note KOS&OSS-ECU can communicate with the M.U.T.-III even when the engine switch is in the "OFF" position.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

note Prior to diagnosis, read "Troubleshooting procedure when vehicle power does not turn ON" .

STEP 1. Battery check

Perform the battery test to check the battery status (Refer to GROUP 54A - Battery ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Replace the battery.

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics

Use the M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting ).

STEP 3. Check that the M.U.T.-III communicates with this system

Check that the communication with M.U.T.-III is possible.
(1)Turn on and off any of the door switches several times, or open any of the doors.
(2)Check that KOS&OSS-ECU can communicate with the M.U.T.-III.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Carry out the troubleshooting of KOS&OSS-ECU power supply or earth circuit malfunction (Refer to ).

STEP 4. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Check if the diagnosis code is set in the KOS&OSS-ECU.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Refer to diagnosis code chart .

Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Engine switch check

Continuity check of engine switch (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Replace the engine switch.

STEP 6. Keyless operation key battery charged level check

Check whether the LED illuminates when the lock/unlock switch on the keyless operation key is pressed.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Replace the battery in the keyless operation key

STEP 7. Customised contents check

Use the customisation function to check the setting contents of "KOS feature" (Refer to ).
note If the customized contents do not satisfy your intention, customise the system again.

Q. Which content is selected?

Set to "Both enable" or "ENG start enable" : Go to Step 8.

"DoorEntry enable" or "Both disable" : Go to Step 10.

STEP 8. Check of the troubles

Check the condition of the keyless operation key when the vehicle power does not turn "ON".

Q. What kinds of circumstances cause the vehicle power supply to remain off?

When the keyless operation key is inside the vehicle. : Go to Step 9.

When the keyless operation key (discharged battery) is inserted into the key box. : Go to Step 10.

STEP 9. Keyless operation system communication test

Using M.U.T.-III, perform the antenna communication test to check that the outside transmission antenna assembly communicates normally (Refer to ).

OK: Normal values are displayed for all the items

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 11.

Go to Step 10.

STEP 10. Check with another registered keyless operation key.

Check whether the power supply mode can be switched by another registered keyless operation key.

Q. Can the power supply mode be switched?

It can be switched. : Go to Step 12.

It cannot be switched. : Go to Step 11.

There is no other registered keyless operation key. : Go to Step 12.

STEP 11. Connection check of commercial electric products

Check whether commercial electric products are connected.

Q. Are commercial electric products connected?

Disconnect the commercial electric products as they may be interfering with communication. Then go to Step 14.

Go to Step 14.

STEP 12. Keyless operation key check

Check whether the registered keyless operation key is used.

Q. Is the registered keyless operation key used?

Used. : Register the key ID and keyless operation key ID of the keyless operation key. Then go to Step 13.

Not used (The keyless operation key is not registered or the keyless operation key is also used for another vehicle). : Refer to the key ID registration procedure manual to register the key ID. If the key ID cannot be registered, replace the keyless operation key and register the key ID.

STEP 13. Check of the troubles

Check that the vehicle power can be turned "ON".

Q. Is the check result normal?

This diagnosis is complete.

Go to Step 14.

STEP 14. Check of the troubles

Check that the vehicle power can be turned "ON".

Q. Is the check result normal?

Aggravation of radio wave condition caused by commercial electric products or intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Go to Step 15.

STEP 15. Check of the troubles

Check that the vehicle power can be turned "ON" or the indicator of engine switch in orange, green.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 16.

Replace the KOS&OSS-ECU and register the chassis number (Refer to ).

STEP 16. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Check if the diagnosis code is set in the KOS&OSS-ECU.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Refer to diagnosis code chart .

This diagnosis is complete.
