COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If only the fuel gauge does not operate, the fuel pump and gauge assembly, the fuel gauge unit or the combination meter may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Malfunction of fuel pump and gauge assembly
  • Malfunction of the fuel gauge unit
  • Malfunction of combination meter

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the diagnosis code.


Check if diagnosis code No. B1201 is set.

Q. Is diagnosis code No. B1201 set?

Perform the troubleshooting of when the diagnosis code is set (Refer to ).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Fuel pump and gauge assembly and fuel gauge unit check


Check the fuel pump and gauge assembly (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Replace the fuel pump and gauge assembly (Refer to GROUP 13D - Fuel Tank ).

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III data list



  • Item 89: Fuel gauge (Refer to ).
  • Item 8A: Fuel gauge(Target) (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Replace the combination meter (Refer to ), and then go to Step 5.

STEP 4. M.U.T.-III actuator test



  • Item 3: Fuel gauge (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Replace the combination meter (Refer to ), and then go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Retest the system.


Check that the fuel gauge works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete. (If no malfunctions are found in all steps, an intermittent malfunction is suspected. Refer to GROUP 00 / How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Go to Step 1.
