Inspection Procedure 13: Ambient temperature sensor does not work.

Before replacing the combination meter, be sure to check that the power supply circuit, earth circuit, and communication circuit are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

When the ambient temperature sensor does not work, the ambient temperature sensor circuit, the ambient temperature sensor may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

Malfunction of ambient temperature sensor circuit
Malfunction of ambient temperature sensor
Malfunction of combination meter
Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check the ambient temperature sensor.

Refer to GROUP 55B - Inspection, Ambient Temperature Sensor Check

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 2.

	Replace the ambient temperature sensor (Refer to GROUP 55B - Ambient temperature sensor ).

STEP 2. Resistance measurement at the ambient temperature sensor connector

(1)Disconnect the ambient temperature sensor connector, the measure at the harness side.

(2)Measure the resistance between the Disconnect the ambient temperature sensor connector, the measure at the harness side. connector (SENG terminal) and the body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 4.

	Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check of open circuit in SENG, AMB line between ambient temperature sensor connector and combination meter connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 4.

	Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Retest the system.

Check that the ambient temperature sensor circuit works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	The procedure is complete.

	Replace the combination meter (Refer to ).
