Inspection Procedure 4: Audio illuminations does not work normally.



caution Before replacing the multivision display ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the tail lamps illuminate, illumination signal is sent from the ETACS-ECU to the multivision display. This switches the illumination of the multivision display from day mode to night mode. If the mode is not switched, the illumination signal line, the ETACS-ECU or the multivision display may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the multivision display setting.


(1)Start the multivision display.
(2)Check the illumination setting by the following procedures.

  • On the "Home" screen, select "Setup" button.
  • Select "Display" button.
  • Select "Illumination" tab.
  • Check that "Automatic" is selected.

Q. Is "Automatic" selected?

Go to Step 2.
Select "Automatic".

STEP 2. Check the illumination.


When the tail lamps are turned on, check whether the illumination other than the multivision display is turned on.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Check the rear combination lamp troubleshooting.

STEP 3. Check of short to power supply, short to earth and open circuit in ILL+ line between multivision display connector and ETACS-ECU connector


note Prior to the inspection, check junction block connector D-405 and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Retest the system.


Check whether the audio illuminations works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Substitute a known good multivision display, and check the trouble symptom.


Substitute the multivision display with good one. When the tail lamps illuminate, check that the illumination of the multivision display is switched from day mode to night mode.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the multivision display (Refer to ).
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
