Inspection Procedure 10: The illumination of the switches on the multivision display cannot be adjusted by using the rheostat.



caution
  • Whenever the multivision display is replaced, ensure that the power supply circuit and the earthing circuit are normal. (Check that the voltage is 10 V or more.)
  • Whenever the multivision display is replaced, select "Select Model" on the dealer mode screen.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


When the rheostat knob is operated, the combination meter will send "ILL-" signal to the multivision display accordingly. The illumination on the multivision display mechanical switches will be changed according to this signal. If the switch illumination is not changed, the wiring harness, connector(s), the multivision display or the combination meter may have a problem.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in ILL- line between multivision display connector and combination meter.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 2. Retest the system.


When the rheostat knob is operated with the mechanical switch illuminated, the illumination should be changed.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Replace the multivision display.
