If any of the corner sensor indicator lamp does not illuminate or continues flashing, the wiring harness, connectors, corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU, or combination meter may be defective.

POSSIBLE CAUSES



  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU
  • Malfunction of the combination meter

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE


Step 1. Inspect OFF indicator and sensor indicator with ignition switch turned to ON position.


Verify that the corner sensor OFF indicator lamp and corner sensor indicator will illuminate for 1 second when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.

Q. Is the check result normal?

YES <Both of them illuminate normally.> : The procedure is complete.
NO <Corner sensor OFF indicator lamp and corner sensor indicator do not illuminate.> : Diagnose the power supply system of the combination meter. Refer to .
NO <Only corner sensor OFF indicator lamp does not illuminate.> : Perform "Corner sensor OFF indicator lamp does not illuminate." Refer to .
NO <All the corner sensor indicators do not illuminate or continue flashing.> : Perform "All the corner sensor indicators do not illuminate." Refer to .
NO <Any of the corner sensor indicators does not illuminate or continues flashing.> : Go to Step 2.

Step 2. Inspect inoperative corner sensor indicator.


Q. Which corner sensor indicator lamp does not illuminate or continues flashing?

Only right front corner sensor indicator does not illuminate or continues flashing. : Go to Step 3.
Only left front corner sensor indicator does not illuminate or continues flashing. : Go to Step 9.
Only right rear corner sensor indicator does not illuminate or continues flashing. : Go to Step 15.
Only left rear corner sensor indicator does not illuminate or continues flashing. : Go to Step 21.
Only rear corner sensor indicators do not illuminate or continue flashing. : Perform "Obstacle is not detected even when the selector lever is shifted to "R" (reverse) position." Refer to .
Only the vehicle plan view does not illuminate. : Go to Step 27.

Step 3. Connector check: Corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU C-137 and front corner sensor (RH) connector A-52.




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Repair the defective connector.

Step 4. Check the wiring harness between front corner sensor (RH) connector A-52 (terminal 1, 2) and corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU connector C-137 (terminal 6, 10).






note Before the wiring harness inspection, inspect intermediate connector A-51 and C125, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 5. Connector check: Combination meter connector C-02.



Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the defective connector.

Step 6. Check the wiring harness between combination meter connector C-02 (terminal 1, 2) and corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU connector C-137 (terminal 6, 10).




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 7. Inspection with front corner sensor (RH) removed


Inspect if the corner sensor indicator (right front) flashes when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position with the front corner sensor (RH) connector A-52 disconnected.

Q. Does the corner sensor indicator (right front) flash?

Replace the front corner sensor (RH).
Go to Step 8.

Step 8. Verification after corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU replacement


After replacing the corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU, verify that the corner sensor indicator lamp illuminates normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.
Replace the combination meter.

Step 9. Connector check: C-137 corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU connector and front corner sensor (LH) connector A-45.




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.

Repair the defective connector.

Step 10. Check the wiring harness between front corner sensor (LH) connector A-45 (terminal 1, 2) and corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU connector C-137 (terminal 5, 10).






note Before the wiring harness inspection, inspect intermediate connector A-46 and C-125, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 11.

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 11. Connector check: Combination meter connector C-02.



Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 12.

Repair the defective connector.

Step 12. Check the wiring harness between combination meter connector C-02 (terminal 29) and corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU connector C-137 (terminal 16).




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 13.

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 13. Inspection with front corner sensor (LH) removed


Inspect if the corner sensor indicator (left front) flashes when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position with the front corner sensor (LH) connector A-45 disconnected.

Q. Does the corner sensor indicator (left front) flash?

Replace the front corner sensor (LH).
Go to Step 14.

Step 14. Verification after corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU replacement


After replacing the corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU, verify that the corner sensor indicator lamp illuminates normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.
Replace the combination meter.

Step 15. Connector check: Corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU connector C-137 and rear corner sensor (RH) connector G-27.




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 16.

Repair the defective connector.

Step 16. Check the wiring harness between rear corner sensor (RH) connector G-27 (terminal 1, 2) and corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU connector C-137 (terminal 8, 10).






note Before the wiring harness inspection, inspect the intermediate connectors G-26, G-29, C-15, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 17.

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 17. Connector check: Combination meter connector C-02.



Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 18.

Repair the defective connector.

Step 18. Check the wiring harness between combination meter connector C-02 (terminal 28) and corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU connector C-137 (terminal 15).




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 19.

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 19. Inspection with rear corner sensor (RH) removed


Inspect if the corner sensor indicator (right rear) flashes when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position with the rear corner sensor (RH) connector G-27 disconnected.

Q. Does the corner sensor indicator (right rear) flash?

Replace the rear corner sensor (RH).
Go to Step 20.

Step 20. Verification after corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU replacement


After replacing the corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU, verify that the corner sensor indicator lamp illuminates normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.
Replace the combination meter.

Step 21. Connector check: Corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU connector C-137 and rear corner sensor (LH) connector G-32.




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 22.

Repair the defective connector.

Step 22. Check the wiring harness between rear corner sensor (LH) connector G-32 (terminal 1, 2) and corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU connector C-137 (terminal 7, 10).






note Before the wiring harness inspection, inspect the intermediate connectors G-29, G-33, C-15, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 23.

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 23. Connector check: Combination meter connector C-02.



Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 24.

Repair the defective connector.

Step 24. Check the wiring harness between combination meter connector C-02 (terminal 27) and corner sensor/back senor sensor-ECU connector C-137 (terminal 17).




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 25.

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 25. Inspection with rear corner sensor (LH) removed


Inspect if the corner sensor indicator (left rear) flashes when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position with the rear corner sensor (LH) connector G-32 disconnected.

Q. Does the corner sensor indicator (left rear) flash?

Replace the rear corner sensor (LH).
Go to Step 26.

Step 26. Verification after corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU replacement


After replacing the corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU, verify that the corner sensor indicator lamp illuminates normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.
Replace the combination meter.

Step 27. Connector check: Corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU connector C-137 and combination meter connector C-02.




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 28.

Repair the defective connector.

Step 28. Check the wiring harness between combination meter connector C-02 (terminal 25) and corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU connector C-137 (terminal 4).




Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 29.

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 29. Verification after corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU replacement


After replacing the corner sensor/back sonar sensor-ECU, verify that the corner sensor indicator lamp illuminates normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the combination meter.
