Inspection Procedure
2: When the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position (engine not
running), ABS warning
lamp does not illuminate.
OPERATION
- When the power is supplied, the ABS-ECU illuminates the ABS warning lamp
for approximately 3 seconds by turning the warning lamp drive transistor
inside the ABS-ECU
(OFF → ON). Then, if the system has no abnormality, the ABS-ECU turns
off the warning lamp
by turning (ON → OFF) the warning lamp drive transistor.
- Even when the ABS-ECU is deactivated, the ABS warning lamp is illuminated
by the
valve relay.
COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
The cause that the ABS warning lamp
does not illuminate may be the open or short circuit
in the power supply line to the ABS warning lamp, combination meter
malfunction, short circuit
in the lamp drive signal line to the earth side, open circuit in the ABS
warning lamp earth
line, or the ABS-ECU internal circuit failure.
PROBABLE CAUSES
The most likely causes for this case
are:
- Blown fuse
- Damaged wiring harness or connector
- Combination meter defect
- Malfunction of the ABS-ECU
STEP 1. Check multi-purpose fuse No. 2.
Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use
Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points .
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Check
and repair the cause of blown fuse, and then replace it. For the
inspection procedure when the fuse is blown, refer to the GROUP 00 -
How to Use Troubleshooting
and Inspection Service Points .
STEP 2. Inspect the ABS warning lamp illumination with ABS-ECU
connector
D-250.
note |
Prior to the inspection of the ABS warning lamp
illumination, check the ABS-ECU connector
D-250, and repair if necessary.
(1)Disconnect ABS-ECU connector D-250.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3)Check that the ABS warning lamp illuminates when the
ABS-ECU connector D-250 terminal
No. 50 is connected to the body earth. OK:
Illuminates
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Replace the ABS-ECU. Then go to
Step 5.
Go to Step 3.
STEP 3. Voltage measurement at combination meter connector
D-02.
note |
Prior to the voltage inspection of combination
meter connector D-02, check the combination
meter connector D-02, and repair if necessary.
(1)Disconnect combination meter connector D-02, and check at
the harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3)Measure the voltage between terminal No.42 and
earth. OK: System voltage
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair
the wiring harness between the ignition switch connector D-309 terminal
No. 2 and the combination meter connector D-02 terminal No. 42.
STEP 4. Check the harness wire between the combination meter connector
D-02 terminal No.50 and ABS-ECU connector D-250 terminal
No.50.
note |
Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check
intermediate connector D-230, and repair
if necessary.
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Replace the combination meter.
Then go to Step 5.
Repair
the harness wire.
STEP 5. Retest the system.
Q.
Does the ABS warning lamp illuminate for 3 seconds when the ignition
switch is turned
to the "ON" position with engine stopped or upon start-up?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to
GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection
Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Start over at Step 1.
