INSPECTION PROCEDURE A-1: Central Door Locking System does not Work. <Using SWS Monitor>

caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the input signals from the driver’s door lock actuator are changed, ETACS-ECU activates all the door lock actuators to lock or unlock all the doors.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. ECU check by using the SWS monitor

Check that the power supply and earth lines to the ETACS-ECU and the SWS communication lines are normal.

ECU TO BE CHECKED
OK: "OK" is displayed on the "ETACS ECU" menu.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Refer to GROUP 54C, Inspection Procedure 2 "Communication with ETACS-ECU is not possible ."

STEP 2. ETACS switch data by using the SWS monitor

Check the ETACS-ECU signal related to the central door locking system function.

Item No.
Item name
Normal condition
Item 22
Dr door lock actuator unlock SW
from ON to OFF
OK: Normal condition are displayed for all the items.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Refer to GROUP 54A, inspection procedure C-15 "The driver’s door lock actuator signal is not received <LH drive vehicles> or <RH drive vehicles>."

STEP 3. Connector check: D-419 ETACS-ECU connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness between D-419 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.2 and fusible link (2).

note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector D-240 and junction block connector D-404, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Retest the system.

Check that the central door locking system works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Replace the ETACS-ECU.
