REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS



<<A>> CAMSHAFT SPROCKET REMOVAL



1.Use the following special tools to stop the camshaft sprocket from turning.

  • Front hub and flange yoke holder (MB990767)
  • Pin (MD998719)
2.Remove the camshaft sprocket.

<<B>> IDLER PULLEY REMOVAL



caution Because of the shallow hexagon hole of the hexagon socket head bolt, firmly insert the tool and carefully work not to damage the hexagon hole.
Remove the idler pulley using a hexagon wrench with 8 mm width across flats.

<<C>> CAMSHAFT OIL SEAL REMOVAL



1.
caution Be careful not to damage the camshaft and the cylinder head.
Make a notch in the camshaft oil seal lip section with a knife, etc.
2.Cover the end of a (-) driver with a shop towel and insert into the notched section of the camshaft oil seal, and pry out the camshaft oil seal to remove it.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS



>>A<< CAMSHAFT OIL SEAL INSTALLATION




1.Apply engine oil to the camshaft oil seal lip.
2.Use the following special tools to press-fit the camshaft oil seal.

  • Camshaft oil seal installer (MD998713)
  • Camshaft oil seal installer adapter (MD998777) <Left bank only>

>>B<< IDLER PULLEY INSTALLATION

Install the idler pulley using a hexagon wrench with 8 mm width across flats.

>>C<< CAMSHAFT SPROCKET INSTALLATION



1.Use the following special tools to stop the camshaft sprocket from turning in the same way as was done during removal.

  • Front hub and flange yoke holder (MB990767)
  • Pin (MD998719)
2.Tighten the camshaft sprocket bolt to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 90 ± 10 N·m
