DISASSEMBLY

1. EXTENSION HOUSING REMOVAL

1.Remove the 7 bolts.
SIZE: Bolt
A: M10 x 1.5 x 45 mm (Seal bolt)
B: M10 x 1.5 x 40 mm (Seal bolt)
C: M8 x 1.25 x 45 mm (Flange bolt)

caution Be careful not to damage the fitting surface of the extension housing and the transmission case.
Using a plastic hammer, tap the extension housing to remove it.

2. OIL SEAL REMOVAL
caution Be careful not to damage the extension housing.

Remove the oil seal from the extension housing.

REASSEMBLY SERVICE POINTS

1. OIL SEAL INSTALLATION

1.
caution Press in the oil seal to the specified depth, being careful not to tilt it.
Set special tools Installer transfer rear bearing (MD998911) as shown in the illustration.

2. EXTENSION HOUSING REMOVAL INSTALLATION
1.Remove any sealant and be careful not to get oil on the contact surfaces of the transmission case and the extension housing.
2.Clean the contact surfaces of the transmission case and the extension housing and the 7 bolt holes indicated in the illustration.
note Completely remove sealant and oil with white gasoline or equivalent.
caution
  • Completely degrease the FIPG-applied surface so that water and oil including the old sealant cannot adhere to the surface coated with the sealant. Never touch the degreased surface by hand.
  • Make sure the starting point and the ending point are about the middle between the bolts.

3.Apply FIPG to the extension housing as shown in the illustration.
Specified sealant: Three bond 1281B or equivalent
note Spread FIPG over the contact surface.

4.Install the extension housing to the transmission case.
5.Temporarily tighten the 7 bolts by hand as shown in the illustration.
SIZE: Bolt
A: M10 x 1.5 x 45 mm (Seal bolt)
B: M10 x 1.5 x 40 mm (Seal bolt)
C: M8 x 1.25 x 45 mm (Flange bolt)
note
  • Do not apply FIPG to the transmission case.
  • The letter A and B shown in the illustration indicate the kind of bolts.
6.Tighten the extension housing mounting bolts to the specified torque 34 ± 7 N·m(M10) and 23 ± 3 N·m(M8).
