caution
  • Do not apply any grease to the splines (for two teeth) on the front propeller shaft assembly <2WD>/rear propeller shaft assembly (front) <4WD> (male side), which are correspond to the missing teeth portion on the rear propeller shaft assembly <2WD>/rear propeller shaft assembly (rear) <4WD> (female side). The missing teeth position can be identified by the mating marks made during removal.
  • Never use any tool to apply grease. If you fail to observe this, the oil seal lip may be damaged.

1.Apply grease between the splines on the front propeller shaft assembly <2WD>/rear propeller shaft assembly (front) <4WD> and the oil seal lip.
Grease: Multi purpose grease SAE J310, NLG1 NO.2 or equivalent (spline: approx. 9 g)

2.Apply grease around the oil seal lip with your finger.
Grease: Multi purpose grease SAE J310, NLG1 NO.2 or equivalent (oil seal lip: approx. 3 g)

3.Insert the front propeller shaft assembly <2WD>/rear propeller shaft assembly (front) <4WD> to the rear propeller shaft assembly <2WD>/rear propeller shaft assembly (rear) <4WD>, being careful that the mating marks are still aligned.
4.Wipe off excessive grease.

5.A small amount of grease should remain on the rear propeller shaft assembly side <2WD>/ Rear propeller shaft assembly (rear) side <4WD>.
