REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION


Pre-removal Operation
  • Transmission Oil Draining (Refer to GROUP 22A, On-vehicle Service , GROUP 23A, On-vehicle Service .)
  • Set the Transfer Shift Lever to "2H." <4WD>
  • Transfer Gear Oil Draining (Refer to GROUP 22A, On-vehicle Service , GROUP 23A, On-vehicle Service .) <4WD>

 Post-installation Operation
  • Transfer Gear Oil Supplying (Refer to GROUP 22A, On-vehicle Service , GROUP 23A, On-vehicle Service .) <4WD>
  • Transmission Oil Supplying (Refer to GROUP 22A, On-vehicle Service , GROUP 23A, On-vehicle Service .)

REMOVAL SERVICE POINT

<<A>> PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY/REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY/FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY REMOVAL


1.Make mating marks on the flange yoke and the differential carrier or transfer companion flange. Remove the propeller shaft.

2.
caution Be careful not to bend the joint portion when removing the propeller shaft, because this will damage the joint boot.
Remove the propeller shaft assembly after placing a rag around the joint boot portion. <High Rider-A/T, 4WD-A/T>

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINT

caution
  • Tighten the installation bolts after removing oil and grease from threads to prevent them from loosening due to lubrication.
  • Be careful not to damage the lip section of the transmission case or transfer case oil seal when installing the propeller shaft.


1.To reuse the propeller shaft, align the mating marks that were made during removal, and then install the propeller shaft assembly to the companion flange.
2.When installing a new rear propeller shaft assembly, if there is no phase alignment mark on the companion flange at the differential side, assemble while adjusting the hole phases of propeller shaft flange and differential companion flange.
